CLINT SMITH SCORES ROME SPEEDWAY SEASON OPENER WIN
Rome, GA (June 6, 2010) Clint Smith led wire to-wire to score the opening night win at Rome International Raceway in Rome, GA on Sunday Night.
Smith grabbed the lead from the start of the thirty-lap feature event and held off challenges from Bo Shirley throughout the feature event.
Shirley would hold on for second with Mike Collins third. Wayne Echols finished fourth with Robert Gant rounding out the top five.
Mike McConnell won a caution filled Limited Late Model feature event over 5th starting Oliver Gentry finishing second and Bobby Tucker third. Tom Maddox came from 20th starting spot to take fourth with Danny Carter rounding out the top five.
Ryan King made his first visit the the ½ mile clay oval a memorable won, picking up the win in Crate Late Model action. Tyler Millwood finished in the second spot with Jimmy Long third. Mark Sims finished fourth with Chris Fennell rounding out the top five.
Scott Cleaver picked up the lead early, and led the final several circuits to pick up the win in Super Bomber action. Roy Patterson finished in second with Chris Pilcher third. Reggie Williams finished fourth with Joey Geers in fifth.
Daniel Brewer survived to win the fifteen lap Econo Bomber feature event over Chuck Page who was second and John Binger third. John Davis finished fourth with Timmy Millwood in fifth.
Lee Sisson won the fifteen lap, twenty-seven car Pony Car feature event with Benton Morris in second and William Ethridge third.
Joe Trantham won the always exciting Cruiser car feature event with Jimmy Wilson in second and Chris Meldin third.
Rome Speedway is back in action this coming Sunday Night June 13th featuring a full program plus a Super Late Model Championship event.
