ROBERT GANT TAKES WIN IN FRONT OF A RECORD CROWD AT ROME

 

Rome, GA (September 5, 2010) – Robert Gant inherited the lead on lap twenty and led the final twenty laps en route to the win in front of a record standing room only crowd at Rome International Speedway in Rome, GA in the annual Rome Boss event on Sunday Night.

 Luther Jenkins jumped to the lead at the start of the forty-lap feature event, but the lead spot wasn’t the place to be.  Jenkins inherited mechanical problems on lap fifteen and had to retire from the feature event. This gave the lead to Ronnie Johnson who lead the next four laps before a flat tire would bring him to a stop and give the lead to Gant. Johnson would re-start the race in twentieth position and pick up postitions one a time, slicing his way back up through the field. Up front, Gant would cruise away with the win over Bo Shirley who finished in the second spot.  Derek Ellis finished third win Johnson rebounding for a fourth place position.  Mike Collins rounded out the top five.

In other Rome Speedway action, Jason Smith picked up the win in Limited Late Model action over Don Jenkins who finished second and Michael Brewer who finished third.

 Alan Brewer lead the final four laps in picking up the win in Crate Late Model action over Curtis Cline who finished second and Matt Dooley in third.

 Greg Ledford won the fifteen lap Super Bomber feature over Richard Bagby in second and Tim Ford third.

 John Binger won the fifteen lap Econo Bomber feature besting a twenty-car field.  Eric Hamby finished in second and Daniel Brewer in third.

 Dan Bennett won the Pony Car feature over Lamar Cook in second and Wesley Patterson in third.

 The always exciting Cruiser feature was won by James Gagnon with Chris Medlin in second and Jimmy Wilson third.

 The next event at Rome International Speedway is the Rome Showdown on Sunday Night October 10th featuring the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in a $10,000 to win feature event.  Rome Speedway Local Divisions will also be racing plus as an added attraction, Rome International Speedway will be throwing in a very exciting Chain Race.

Gray wins USCS Red Dirt Rumble finale at Rome Speedway 
 
 
Rome, Georgia - September 5, 2010 - Defending United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear, National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee closed out the USCS presented by Goodyear "Red Dirt Rumble" almost Speedweek, five race mini-series with a win in the 30-lap Rome Boss Sprint Car Shootout on Sunday night. It was Gray's second win of the long racing week in his familiar Rislone Engine Treatment sponsored Wesmar powered J&J Auto Racing sprint car #10. He won the opener at New Senoia Raceway on Friday, August 27th. It was the veteran USCS racer's sixth feature win of the 2010 season in the series. 
 
 
Second generation sprint car racer, Matt Linder from Hoschton, Georgia who won the Randy Helton Memorial race at New Senoia on the previous weekend came home in the runner-up spot followed by rising rookie star, fifteen year old Eric Riggins, Jr. from Charlotte, North Carolina in third place. Saturday night's Lavonia Speedway USCS feature winner, Danny Martin, Jr. from Sarasota, raced home in the fourth position after stopping early in the race to change a flat right rear tire. C.J. Miller from Denver, North Carolina grabbed another top five finish by following Martin across the line in the fifth position. 
 
Seventeen year-old female rookie hot-shoe, Morgan Turpen from Bartlett, Tennessee led the next group in sixth place. Clint Weiss from Elizabethton, Kentucky finished in the seventh position. Coby Adams from Mooresville, North Carolina followed Weiss in the eighth position. The 2009 USCS Southern Thunder Rookie of the Year, Brandon Rekow from Mooresville, North Carolina finished in ninth place followed by 2007 USCS Southern Thunder Rookie of the Year Lee Moore from Tuscaloosa, Alabama in tenth. 
 
Matt Linder won the evening's Goodyear Speed Dash and then followed that with a victory in the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. Terry Gray won the Butlerbuilt Second Heat race. Clint Weiss was the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger. Eric Riggins, Jr. was the Rookie of the Race.
