CLINT SMITH TAKES ROME BOSS WIN

Rome, GA (September 11, 2011) – Clint Smith took the lead on lap nine and led the final thirty-one laps en route to the win, in the annual Rome Boss feature event at Rome International Speedway on Sunday Night.

Jake Knowles set fast time among the twenty-six entrants to earn the pole position for the forty-lap feature event.

At the drop of the green, Knowles would jump to the point over Smith, Aaron Ridley and Michael Page.

Page would get by Ridley on lap five while Smith was pressuring Knowles for the top spot.

Smith would finally grab the point coming down to complete the ninth lap.

Lap nine would also have everyone noticing Shane Clanton who had already rallied from his fifteenth place starting spot up to eighth.

Three laps later Clanton would get by Johnson to take over seventh with Smith cruising up front, and Page putting the pressure on Knowles for second.

One lap later Page would make the pass taking over the second spot and Clanton would move up the sixth spot.

Lap nineteen seen Clanton crack the top five passing Tony Knowles.

The front five would stay the same the next several circuits before a lap twenty-five caution would bunch the field back up.

Smith would jump back out front over Knowles who had moved back into second over Page and Clanton who moved ahead of Ridley and into fourth.

Lap thirty-three would then see the final caution of the race, setting up a seven race dash to the finish.

Smith again jumped out front with Page moving back into second and Knowles third with Clanton fourth and Ronnie Johnson cracking the top five.

Clanton would waste little time, passing Knowles on lap thirty-five and the Page on lap thirty -six.
